Congratulations, SCARMAGNO. Italvolt becomes reality. This morning, in the town hall of Scarmagno, Lars Carlstrom, CEO of Italvolt, signed a binding agreement with Prelios Sgr for the purchase of the former Olivetti area on which to create the largest Gigafactory for the production of lithium batteries for electric vehicles on an area of one million square meters.
The project is 3.4 billion euros and the partners include Pininfarina, America Manganese, Rambol, Pwc strategy & project management. The goal is to target a national and German market, explained Carlstrom.
«The agreement with Prelios represents a key step in our project – he explained – the purchase of the area respects the deadlines. It is an abandoned area that has a large potential and that we will return to the local context by offering jobs and requalification of the environment ».
«Today is a historic day for the Canavese. I thank Lars Carlstrom for identifying in this area where to set up a company that will bring well-being to the Canavese area and to the whole nation »greeted the signing of the agreement by the mayor of Scarmagno, Adriano Grassino.
The next step is to obtain the building permits expected for the beginning of 2022. The new plant, of 300 thousand square meters, will be designed by the architecture division of Pininfarina.
